The Ultimate Teaching Experience:

Teaching The Deaf & Hard Of Hearing Child.

A hearing impairment interferes with all aspects of a person's life.  Language and speech development maybe delayed which in turn affects the acquisition of reading and writing skills.  Therefore, a deaf and hard of hearing child needs extensive instruction in sign language or oral communication skills.  According to the Convention of American Instructors for the Deaf, hearing loss is the most serious of all handicapping conditions because it affects the normal ease of communication through hearing.  Hearing loss is called the invisible handicap.
